Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2025 · PhantomCheck by FutureStack Intelligence · Ilorin, Nigeria

⚠ PhantomCheck is an OSINT tool. You may only scan domains, emails, and IP addresses that you own or have explicit written permission to test. Scanning systems without permission may be illegal in your country.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using PhantomCheck ("the tool", "the service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use PhantomCheck. These terms apply to all users regardless of location.

2. What PhantomCheck Does

PhantomCheck is a browser-based open-source OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) tool that queries publicly available security databases and APIs. It does not perform active intrusion, exploitation, or penetration testing. All data returned is sourced from public APIs and open records.

PhantomCheck runs entirely in your browser. Your API keys and scan results are stored only in your browser's localStorage — nothing is sent to FutureStack Intelligence servers because we do not operate any.

3. Permitted Use

You may use PhantomCheck only for:

  • Scanning your own domains, emails, or IP addresses
  • Scanning targets you have explicit written permission to test
  • Security research on systems you are authorized to assess
  • Educational and learning purposes on test environments you control
  • Checking your own digital exposure and breach history

4. Prohibited Use

You may not use PhantomCheck to:

  • Scan systems, domains, or email addresses without owner permission
  • Gather intelligence for stalking, harassment, or targeted attacks
  • Scan government or military infrastructure (blocked by the tool)
  • Collect data on individuals without their consent
  • Violate any applicable law in your jurisdiction
  • Automate scans beyond the tool's built-in rate limits
  • Reverse-engineer or modify the tool to bypass blocked targets

Unauthorized scanning of computer systems is a criminal offence in most countries including Nigeria (Cybercrimes Act 2015), the United States (CFAA), and the United Kingdom (Computer Misuse Act). You are solely responsible for how you use this tool.

5. Your API Keys

PhantomCheck uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. You supply your own API keys for Claude, VirusTotal, Shodan, HaveIBeenPwned, SecurityTrails, and GitHub. These keys are stored only in your browser's localStorage. FutureStack Intelligence has no access to your keys at any time.

You are responsible for the usage, billing, and security of your own API keys. Do not use PhantomCheck on shared or public computers where your keys may be accessible to others.

6. No Warranty

PhantomCheck is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. FutureStack Intelligence does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any scan results. Security data sourced from third-party APIs may be incomplete or outdated.

Do not make critical security decisions based solely on PhantomCheck results. Always verify findings with additional tools and qualified security professionals.

7. Limitation of Liability

FutureStack Intelligence and the PhantomCheck contributors shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use or misuse of this tool, including but not limited to legal consequences from unauthorized scanning, data loss, API billing charges, or security incidents.

8. Open Source

PhantomCheck is released under the MIT License. The source code is available at github.com/futurestackintel/phantomcheck . You are free to fork, modify, and redistribute under the terms of the MIT License.

9. Changes to These Terms

FutureStack Intelligence reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of PhantomCheck after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
